A Message from the Superintendent,
It is hard to believe that our winter break is fast approaching. The General George S. Patton School administrators have been very busy working on a variety of projects. One of these projects includes the installation of the Smart Lab. The new Smart Lab has provided students at Patton School with state of the art academic opportunities related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Mr. Katsikas who heads the Smart Lab participated in significant training that will foster student growth and creativity.
In addition, the General George S. Patton School administrators have continued to work closely with the Center for School Improvement. We have identified three goals that we will continue to focus our attention on as part of our School Improvement efforts. One goal focuses on improving students academic performance, another goal focuses on improving student behavior and reducing office referrals and suspensions, and the final goal focuses on increasing parent involvement at Patton School.
The administration has provided numerous opportunities for families to participate in new social opportunities at General George S. Patton School. Parents have provided feedback regarding these new social events and their comments are extremely positive. We will continue to consider and explore additional opportunities to increase parental involvement at our school.
Another endeavor that the General George S. Patton School administrators have focused their attention and efforts on is strengthening relationships with our school community members. It is the desire of the Board of Education and the administration to forge sustained and productive relationships with other Village of Riverdale governmental entities. We believe that by strengthening these relationships that we will be able to share resources and work in concert with one another for the betterment of the community we serve.
Another area of focus is related to improving student attendance. We will continue to provide incentives and rewards to students who have quarterly perfect attendance. Those students who have perfect attendance for the entire school year will be rewarded with a special outing upon their return to school for the 2018-2019 school year. Students who had perfect attendance last year and/or students who completed their Summer Skills workbooks were treated to a field trip to Fair Oaks Farm in Indiana.
I am very proud of the many accomplishments that have taken place in General George S. Patton School District 133. I attribute these successes to the incredibly productive relationship between the Board of Education and the administration. The Board of Education has maintained a sustained and unwavering focus on making changes that positively impact our children. The Board of Education continues to focus on their fiduciary responsibilities as stewards of the District’s finances. As a direct result of action taken by the Board of Education, the District has turned budget deficits into a balanced budget.
